2.7 kg narcotics recovered at LoC

POONCH, Feb 17: Army and police in a joint operation recovered 2.7 kilograms of narcotic substance from Bagyaldara area, near the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district this evening.
Official sources said that at around 4.30 pm today, a search operation was launched by Army jawans, ahead of fence near LoC in Mohalla Sokar of village Bagyaldara and its adjoining area on some suspicion. The area falls under Poonch police jurisdiction.
Later, at around 6.00 pm, a police party from Poonch also joined the search operation with soldiers of Mahar Regiment. At around 7 pm the searching party recovered two packets of narcotic substance, weighing appx 2 kg and 700 gms from Mohallah Sokar at village Bagyaldara, near the house of one Jamal Din, son of Kaga and sealed it in the presence of Executive Magistrate on the spot. Search operation was still continued.
It is believed that this consignment of Narcotics had been pumped into this side of the LoC by the smugglers from PoJK side and they were in touch with the drug peddlers/ smugglers on this side of the LoC. An investigation has been launched to ascertain the connection of the Pakistani smugglers on this side of the LoC, officials said.
