Egypt to lodge note with ICJ over Israel’s actions in Palestine – Reports

CAIRO, Feb 18: Egypt will lodge a note with the United Nations’ International Court of Justice (ICJ) over Israel’s actions in Palestine, Egyptian broadcaster Al Qahera News reported on Sunday, citing a high-ranking source familiar with the matter.

“Egypt will file a note to the United Nations’ International Court of Justice related to the Israeli actions in the occupied [Palestinian] territories,” the source told the broadcaster.

Egypt will submit arguments to the court on February 21, the source was cited as saying.

On February 13, the South African government said that it had made an “urgent request” to the ICJ over Israel’s decision to expand its operation in the Gaza Strip to the southern city of Rafah. On February 16, the ICJ ruled that the situation around Rafah did not require the introduction of any additional measures against Israel that were demanded by South Africa. (UNI)
