DG SBM-G J&K highlights strategies to further goals of Mission during Nat’l Conference

JAMMU, Feb 18: The Director General (DG) of Rural Sanitation, Jammu and Kashmir, Anoo Malhotra, recently participated in a two-day National Conference on Swachh Bharat Mission-Grameen (SBM-G) and Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) held in Lucknow.
The conference aimed to discuss strategies and initiatives to advance the objectives of the SBM-G and JJM programs.
During the conference, Malhotra delivered a detailed presentation on the Swachhata Green Leaf Rating (SGLR) initiative, placing a spotlight on information, education, and communication (IEC) strategies. These discussions engaged a diverse array of stakeholders from various States/UTs, fostering a synergy of ideas and best practices.
The Swachhata Green Leaf Rating initiative targets enhancing sanitation standards in the hospitality sector by rating hotels and other establishments based on their sanitation practices.
Malhotra highlighted exemplary practices such as Swachhathon, Swachh Yodha Pratiyogita, Swachhata Bank, Waste to Wonder, and others adopted by Jammu and Kashmir to promote sanitation and hygiene practices. J&K’s innovative IEC strategy garnered praise from participants and delegates alike.
Malhotra stressed the importance of sustainability in achieving the SBM-G goals, outlining a roadmap for continued efforts and innovative approaches to ensure the sustainability of sanitation practices in rural areas.
The conference witnessed the distinguished presence of Union Minister of Jal Shakti, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and other eminent personalities, including Atul Kumar Tiwari, Secretary – Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, GOI, and Swatantra Dev Singh, Cabinet Minister Jal Shakti, Uttar Pradesh, among others.
Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat launched three impactful books from SBM-G, emphasizing the critical juncture of the conference coinciding with significant milestones of JJM and SBM-G.
He underscored the mission mode approach required to address saturation concerns and transformative missions.
The National Conference provided a platform for stakeholders nationwide to exchange experiences, learn from one another, and strategize for the future.
