Shiv Sena demands ban on liquor sale near institutions

JAMMU, Feb 19: A deputation of Shiv Sena (UBT) J&K unit led by Shiv Sena State chief, Manish Sahni here today met Deputy Commissioner Excise, Suman Sharma and submitted her a memorandum demanding ban of liquor sale near religious places and educational institutions in Jammu city.
Sahni said that flouting norms, distance between liquor shops and religious & educational places is being continuously reduced.
“This on one hand hurts religious sentiments of Hindus while on the other sale of liquor near educational institutions can push youth towards addiction of intoxicants,” he maintained demanding closure of these shops near educational institutions and religious places with immediate effect else they will be forced to stage protest demonstration outside Excise office.
The Shiv Sena leader also demanded strict action against charging extra than MRP at most liquor shops in Jammu.
Shiv Sena women wing president, Meenakshi Chhibber and general secretary, Vikas Bakshi were also present on this occasion.
