JAMMU, Feb 21: Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare Department (SWD), Sheetal Nanda today unveiled a series of initiatives aimed at empowering the Pahari-speaking community within Jammu and Kashmir.
The event marked a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to foster inclusivity and celebrate the cultural diversity of the region. At the ceremony, Sheetal Nanda unveiled a meticulously crafted calendar and brochure dedicated to showcasing the rich heritage and vibrant culture of the Pahari-speaking people.
Anil Kumar Dogra, Director Finance Rachna Sharma, Social Welfare, Sapna Kotwal, Secretary J&K PSP Board, Kamlesh Additional Secretary SWD among others were also present on the occasion.
In addition to the calendar and brochure, a groundbreaking geo-locational map highlighting all Pahari hostels across the UT was unveiled. This innovative map provides valuable insight into the distribution and accessibility of hostel facilities, catering to the needs of Pahari students and residents across the region.
Speaking at the launch, Sheetal Nanda emphasized the importance of such initiatives in promoting unity, diversity and inclusive development within the UT. By recognizing and celebrating the unique cultural identities within the region, the administration reaffirmed its commitment to building a more equitable and harmonious society.
Sapna Kotwal, Secretary J&K Advisory Board for Development of Pahari, while speaking at the event, expressed her gratitude towards Sheetal Nanda for her guidance and support for the development of Pahari Speaking people.
The unveiling of the calendar, brochure, and geolocational map represents a significant step forward in the ongoing journey towards empowerment and inclusivity for the Pahari-speaking community in the UT.
