JAMMU, Feb 24: Rich tribute were paid to former National Conference general secretary Sheikh Nazir Ahmed on his 9th death anniversary.
Leading the party leaders and workers in paying homage to the late leader, at a function held at party office here this morning, additional general secretary and former Minister Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal said that Sheikh Nazir will always inspire the NC cadre for his simplicity, honesty, selfless service, organizational capabilities and political acumen, adding that he stood by his cherished principles till last without opting any position of power.
Former Minister Ajay Kumar Sadhotra said that Nazir was a pillar of the organization, who remained connected with the cadre at grass roots level all his life. Dwelling upon various facets of his illustrious political odyssey, Sadhotra said, “Nazir Sahib has left an indelible mark of selfless service which will continue to guide and inspire the younger generations and influence their political journey.”
Recalling the qualities of head and heart of the former general secretary, the Provincial secretary Jammu Sheikh Bashir said, “The best tribute to Nazir Sahib would be to strive for steering the state to peace and progress besides empowering the people at grass roots level.”
Former Minister and president Central Zone Babu Rampaul described Late Nazir as a pioneering leader who stood for high values in politics and public life. He said the former General Secretary worked tirelessly for the betterment of the people, especially the poor, and strengthened the party at grass roots level.
Senior leaders Abdul Gani Malik, Javed Ahmed Rana, Chander Mohan and Vijay Lochan also spoke on the occasion.
Prominent among others present on the occasion include- Abdul Gani Teli, Raghbir Singh Manhas, Qazi Jalal Ud Din, Bimla Luthra, BushanLal Bhat, Deepinder Kour, Pardeep Bali, Ayub Malik, Vijay Lakshmi Datta, Jugal Mahajan and others.
Similar function was held at party office Srinagar where party leaders and workers led by general secretary Ali Mohd Sagar paid floral tribute to the party stalwart Sheikh Nazir.
Party Provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani, senior leaders Choudhary Mohd Ramzan, Irfan Shah, Ali Mohd Dar, State spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar and others were also present on the occasion.
