JAMMU, Feb 26: The members of Other Backward Classes took out OBC Adhikar Tiranga rally from Jammu today to attract the attention of Govt towards the implementation of Mandal Commission report in the JKUT.

The OBC members led by Kasturi Lal Basotra, Chairman Jammu & Kashmir OBC Mahasabha along Bansi Lal Choudhary Convenor OBC Adhikar Tiranga Yatra besides others assembled at Hari Singh Park near Tawi bridge today morning and started Adhikar Tiranga rally to create awareness among the own community people about their rights.
They were shouting slogans in support of their demand of implementation of 27% reservation for the OBCs in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir. Several leaders of the OBCs including Kasturi Lal Basotra, Bansi Lal Choudhary addressed the rally and also spoe to the media, demanding implementation of Mandal Commission Report in J&K. They said that 12 % reservation was not acceptable to the OBCs and the Modi Government must fulfill its promise.
They said after J&K was turned into UT, the Central Laws were extended to the J&K, then why Mandal Commission report was not implemented here. The Modi Government must clarify it. They said that merely 12 % quota was not acceptable to them as the population of OBCs is 42 %. The quota should be provided as per population.
They further disclosed that the Tiranga Yatra is being taken out from Feb 26 to 29. The main purpose of this yatra is to educate OBC masses about their fundamental constitutional rights and their duties towards their Nation besides implementation of 27% reservation in JK-UT for OBCs.
This eighth “OBC Adhikar Tiranga Yatra after starting from Maharaja Hari Singh Park adjoining Press Club Jammu at around 10. 30 am and passed through Gumat Chowk, Vivekanand Chowk, Prem Nagar, Gurjar Nagar, Nagrota, Suketar, Dhansal, Jindrah, Kishanpur-Manwal and then reached Udhampur in th evening. Tomorrow morning, it will leave for Katra and Reasi.
