Workshop on ‘Linguistics’ begins at Cluster University

JAMMU, Feb 26: A three day workshop on ‘Linguistics’ Generating Awareness About Different Aspects of Language’ organized by the Department of Linguistics and Literature, School of Humanities and Liberal Arts, Cluster University of Jammu was inaugurated today at MAM College.
The workshop will culminate on February 28, 2024 and it aims to provide an understanding and awareness of Linguistics with a specific focus on preservation and promotion of local languages of J&K.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by the chief patron Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Bechan Lal along with patron of the event, Registrar, Cluster University of Jammu and Dr. Jatinder Khajuria.
Welcome address was delivered by Dr. Monika Sharma, Dean, School of Humanities & Liberal Arts Cluster University of Jammu.
Dr. Reena Salaria, Head, Department of Linguistics and Literature laid emphasis in her concept note on the need and importance of preserving and promoting local languages of J&K.
The invited resource person Prof. Panchanan Mohanty highlighted the significance of preserving linguistic diversity since it is directly linked to the preservation of biodiversity.
Prof. Imtiaz Hasnain also spoke on the occasion.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Jeet Singh, Faculty, Department of English, School of Humanities & Liberal Arts, Cluster University.
Proceedings of the programme were conducted by Ayushi and Shiwali, Faculty, Department of Linguistics & Literature.
