UDHAMPUR, Feb 27: Commissioner Secretary Industries & Commerce, Vikramjit Singh, led a public darbar as part of the UT Government’s ambitious public outreach cum grievances redressal programme at Panchayat Garnai of Block Udhampur.
Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai, Senior Superintendent of Police, Joginder Singh, Additional District Development Commissioner, Ghan Sham Singh, District Development Council members, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Joginder Singh Jasrotia, Ex-BDCs, PRI members, general public and other senior officers from various departments actively participated in the public outreach program.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur welcomed Commissioner Secretary elucidated the objectives of the program, along with providing an overview of the district’s developmental landscape.
PRI members and the general public from adjoining panchayats put forth their concerns and demands, including the opening of shopping complex for SGHs members on the National Highway, promotion of industries, relocation of red category industrial units, upgrading of Subash Stadium, appointment of ultrasound technicians and doctors, road maintenance and upgrades, staff shortages in educational and healthcare institutions, and initiatives to promote tourism in the area, among others.
While addressing the gathering, the Vikramjit Singh urged the district administration to ensure prompt resolution of public issues and efficient service delivery. He emphasized that the primary goal of such public darbars is to address day-to-day grievances faced by the public on the ground.
Commissioner Secretary directed the DC to compile a detailed report of pending issues and demands for further action by the concerned authorities. He commended the District Administration for their efforts in implementing various schemes and programs, encouraging active participation from the public, and highlighting the commitment of officers to address genuine grievances within stipulated timelines. He reiterated the importance of bridging the gap between administration and citizens through such events, facilitating effective implementation of government policies and programs.
Commissioner Secretary and Deputy Commissioner also inspected awareness stalls set up by various government departments, reviewing the progress of schemes related to agriculture, horticulture, health, animal husbandry, handicrafts, and handloom, demonstrating a holistic approach to community development.
Later, Vikramjit Singh also distributed Power Tillers, Spray Pumps, and Chauff Cutters among beneficiaries.
