Dr Sohan Kaul gets Sangeet Natak Academy award

JAMMU, Feb 28: Dr. Sohan Kaul, an eminent playwright, novelist and short story writer has been awarded Sangeet Natak Academy Award for 2023.
Dr Kaul has written more than two dozen plays in Kashmiri and most have been staged. He has three collections of plays,”Naad”,”Shakespeare” and “Ginden Tamashe ” besides “Khar Kalle”, and “Yousuf Shah Chak”.
Besides, his immense contribution to creative writing for theatre, he has written 12 Novels and all have been valued the most credible fiction of Kashmiri literature and Language. This prestigious award is given to those who has created new creative standards in theatre play writing.
Dr Kaul has translated the most noted plays of world literature like Zoo Story by Albee, Seagull by Chekhov, Inspector Calls by Priestly, Haivadan by Girish Karnard and Tuglaq by Girish Karnard. Earlier this award has been given to Moti Lal Kemmu. In 1992 and to Narsinghdev Jamwal in 2008.
