JAMMU, Feb 29: In a bid to address environmental concerns and promote sustainable practices, an active group named “Dharm Rashtiya Sewa Mandal” (DRSM ) has embarked on an initiative to collect waste wood from agricultural activities and transport it to cremation ground at Panjpeer for eco-friendly disposal. This will also decrease the pressure on our green gold.
The group, comprising of dedicated local volunteers under the leadership of Darshan Kumar, Ritesh Gupta, Mohit Gupta & other members of DRSM collaborated with Agricultural Department. to gather unused or discarded wood from pruning, harvesting, and land clearing activities. This initiative not only helps in clearing agricultural land but also prevents the burning of wood in open fields, which contributes to air pollution and environmental degradation.
By transporting the collected waste wood to cremation grounds, the group ensures that it is utilized in a controlled and regulated manner, minimizing harmful emissions and maximizing its utility. Additionally, the process aligns with eco-friendly practices, as the wood is utilized as fuel for cremation, reducing the need for traditional firewood sourced from forests.
