POONCH, Feb 29: A 24-years-old youth was electrocuted at Marhote in Surankote area of Poonch district today.
Official sources said that the youth was cutting leaves on the tree when suddenly he came in contact with general power supply line due to which he was electrocuted to death on the spot.
The family members and locals expressing grief and anger alleged negligency on the part of power department and said that the wires are lying on the trees. The live cables being so low resulted into this incident. If the department failed to take necessary measures it may case some more casualties. They demanded action in this regard.
The deceased has been identified as Mohd Qasim, son of Mohd Khurshid, resident of Middle Marhote in Surankote.
SHO Surankote Insp Mukhtiar Ali said that he along with the team was on the spot. The statements of people were taken and body was handed over to the family for last rites, he added.
