KATRA, Mar 2: A workshop cum Board of Studies (BoS) meeting was organized in the School of Mathematics at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University to design the course structure and course curriculum according to NEP-2020.
The School of Mathematics is going to open a new programme B Tech in Mathematics and Computing in collaboration with School of Computer Science from the academic session 2024-25. The four year under graduate (FYUG) programme as per NEP-2020 was also discussed in the workshop.
Prof Ghauri Shanker, HoD Mathematics, Central University of Punjab; Professor Wali Mohammad Shah, HoD Mathematics, Central University of Kashmir; Professor S Peerzada, University of Kashmir; Professor Ajay K Sharma, HoD Mathematics, CUJ; Prof Ramesh Kumar, HoD Mathematics, JU, attended the workshop. All the faculty members of School of Mathematics and HoD Dr Kuldip Raj were present in the workshop.
Prof Pragati Kumar, Vice Chancellor SMVDU, also attended the workshop and received feedback from the experts about the programmes. Dr Sandeep Bhougal was Coordinator of the workshop.
Meanwhile, a two-day workshop on Curriculum Revision and Content Development in line with NEP 2020 Guidelines was also organized by SoBT at SMVDU.
During the workshop, the experts and faculty members engaged in discussion and deliberation on curriculum development of the Doctoral, Postgraduate, and Undergraduate Programs and provided their insightful remarks on the required necessities and demands of the rapidly evolving landscape of technology and industry. Besides, deliberations were held on the development of a robust curriculum for B Tech Biotechnology program to be offered from next academic session by the school. The resource persons for the workshop were Dr Madhulika Bhagat, from School of Biotechnology, JU; Dr Kashmir Singh, Coordinator DST Centre for Policy Research, Department of Biotechnology, Punjab University, Chandigarh; Dr Shaikh Z. Ahammad from IIT-Delhi and Dr Pravir Kumar from Delhi Technological University. The alumni invited to the workshop were Dr Akshi Spolia, Rabiya Tabbassum Khan, Amook, and Swadha Kailoo.
The two-day-long discussions included proposals to offer minor and honors degrees in emerging areas of Genome Engineering and Technology and Sustainable Energy Engineering at the UG level for the B Tech Biotechnology program.
