JAMMU, Mar 2: Police in Akhnoor area here today claimed to have booked a notorious drug peddler under the PIT NDPS Act.
A police spokesperson said that one Vivek Kumar alias Sunny of Ward number 08, Akhnoor, Jammu, who was involved in multiple cases of drug peddling, was evading his arrest for the last one month.
A warrant of arrest under PIT NDPS was also issued against the accused by the Divisional Commissioner Jammu, he said.
Today, acting on specific information about the accused, the police spokesperson said, a team of Police Station Akhnoor led by SHO Mohammad Tariq under the supervision of SDPO Mohan Lal Sharma raided a suspected location and managed to arrest the accused, thereby succeeding in executing the arrest warrant of the accused.
The accused would be shifted to District Jail Kathua now, he added.
