LEH, Mar 3: A delegation from Chuchot, led by Councillor Chuchot, Mirza Hussain called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Retd) Dr BD Mishra, at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat.
Mirza apprised the LG of the upcoming Leh-Bilaspur Railway project for which the preliminary work, including the survey for the Railway track line, has already been done. He informed the LG that no stakeholder consultation meeting was held by the agency to listen to their grievances, concerns and suggestions. He also informed that the proposed railway line passes through the command area which will cause a lot of damage to them.
Mirza requested the LG’s intervention in the realignment of the railway line and diversion of the proposed railway line from the upper side of the command area. He also requested the distribution and the allotment of the command area among the villagers.
The LG assured to take up the matter of realignment of the proposed railway line with the Minister of Railways so that minimal damage is suffered by the villagers.
Mountaineer Skalzang Rigzin, who is also the President of the Ladakh Mountain Guide Association, also called on the LG. Skalzang apprised the LG of his plan to scale Mount Everest and Mount Kanchenjunga without oxygen and the aid of Sherpa. He requested the LG for financial assistance in this regard.
The LG appreciated Skalzang for his endeavour and assured him of providing him with equipment and assistance in travelling.
Tashi Kunzes, an aspirant for the post of Lower Division Clerk in the National Institute of Sowa Rigpa (NISR), called on LG and alleged irregularities in the recruitment process and unfair selection process for the post.
Director NISR, Dr Padma Gurmet informed the LG that Kunzes topped the MCQ-based exam but her marks in the skill test, i.e. typing test, were lower than the candidate who was selected for the post.
After inquired about the selection method, the HLG stated that the recruitment process had been violated and he would take a final decision in this regard appropriately, said an official handout.
