Khatana shocked over deaths, losses in heavy rainfall 

Demands immediate compensation

JAMMU, Mar 3: Expressing concern over the deaths and damages caused to the property and livestock due to incessant rains in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory, senior BJP leader and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Gulam Ali Khatana today said that both the Divisional Commissioners of Jammu as well as that of Kashmir along with all the District Development Commissioners should take cognizance of the wrath of nature’s fury and help the affected persons.
In a statement issued to the media here, today, the senior BJP leader said that district administrations as well as divisional administrations along with the departments like Animal Husbandry, Agriculture etc should assess losses suffered by the poor people due to the rains, snowfall, hailstorms, landslides etc and initiate the process for early relief to the affected people.
Khatana said that the injured in the calamity should be provided best treatment and the family members of those killed in house collapse cases, landslides etc should be duly compensated.
The MP informed that he is regularly receiving telephonic calls from the affected people who are crying for help and their miseries are really heart wrenching.
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi at the Centre and under Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the Government is determined for the welfare of all and none should suffer due to red tapism in Government offices,” BJP leader Khatana said.
He said that any delay on the part of administration and Government officers and officials for providing relief to the calamity hit people should not be tolerated at all and a strict note of that shall be taken promptly.
The MP Rajya Sabha said that there are reports from many parts of Kashmir and also from Rajouri, Reasi, Doda, Ramban and other areas of Jammu province that the natural calamity has caused havoc in which many cattle have also been killed and the crops also suffered immense losses.
Khatana also prayed for peace to those killed in the incessant rains and for quick recovery to those hurt in the natural calamity.
