JAMMU, Feb 18: Several MLAs today raised the issue of public importance in the Assembly during Zero Hour.
Yashpaul Kundal (NPP) raised the issue of constant dharnas by the daily rated workers of various departments and safai karmcharies in Jammu for pressing their demands. They urged the Government to intervene and resolve their genuine issues enabling lifting of dharnas.
Balwant Singh Mankotia (NPP) drew the attention of the Government towards the lukewarm attitude of police in dealing with the alleged rape case of two minor girls of Panchari block. He sought justice for the victims and severe punishment for the culprits.
Mushtaq Ahmed Shah (PDP) demanded compensation for the fire victims of Tral area.
Prof Chaman Lal Gupta urged the Government for supply of ration to the consumers as per the approved scale. He alleged that ration dealers are distributing ration to the consumers as per their sweet will in violation of standing guidelines. He also called for frequent inspection of PDS ration to ensure its quality.
Hakim Mohammad Yasin (PDF) called for earmarking adequate funds for repair of electric transformers in Budgam district. He alleged that damaged transformers are not repaired by the authorities for many days which results in great hardship for the consumers.
Sardar Rafiq Hussain Khan, T. Namgyal and Engineer Rashid also raised issues of public importance pertaining to their respective areas.
