JAMMU, Feb 18: On the basis of 2001 census people who were categorized as BPL families are getting ration along with other available facilities.
The information was given by the Minister for CA&PD, Chowdhary Mohammad Ramzan while replying to a question of B. R. Kundal in Legislative Council today.
The Minister informed the House that Department of CA&PD is providing 100% food grain to BPL families as per census 2001. The ineligible BPL family found if any, at any stage, is not being provided ration by the department and no benefit is given to the families which have come out of the category, he added.
He further informed the House that during the year 2009, the Government has ordered re-verification of BPL families as appearing in the record of CA&PD Department and that of the Rural Development by the Committees constituted under the respective Deputy Commissioner, who were to submit their reports in this regard to the Planning and Development Department and only after consideration of these reports view in the matter will be taken. Mr Kundal asked why there was so delay in releasing list when survey was already conducted.
