JAMMU, Feb 18: PDP MLA and former Minister Javed Mustafa Mir and his party colleagues today triggered uproar in the Legislative Assembly over delay in re-construction of a religious place, which, they said, was martyred during construction of new Legislative complex.
After the Question Hour, Mr Mir, who had also raised the issue last year, was on his feet wanting to know from the Government what happened to the assurance on re-construction of the religious places at its original spot.
Mr Mir was supported by PDP MLAs Syed Bashir and Mushtaq Shah, who tried to troops in the Well of the House.
BJP Legislature Party leader Ashok Khajuria had a tiff with Mr Mir saying there was no religious place.
Speaker Mubarak Gul advised the members not to make it a Hindu-Muslim issue. Mr Gul also expunged few words used by both the sides.
Javed Mir, however, insisted that the religious place was demolished for construction of the new Assembly complex.
In his reply, R&B Minister Abdul Mujeed Wani admitted that during last year’s constriction, a portion of the religious place has cracked.
Assuring that the religious place would be re-build, Mr Wani advised the members not to make it an issue.
