Man shot dead in Rajouri

RAJOURI, Feb 18: Over a land dispute, a middle-aged villager was shot dead by an ex-serviceman of his village in Gurdan Balla area of district Rajouri today.
A police spokesman said that there was a clash between two families over a land dispute at Morha Manji Dhara in Gurdan Balla this afternoon. During clash, ex-serviceman Abdul Qayoom, son of Dil Mohd of the same village took out his .12 bore licensed gun and fired upon Mohd Sadiq, son of Baja, resident of the same Morha. He also fired yet another round on Sadiq’s brother Mohd Aslam. While Mohd Sadiq fell down on the ground and started bleeding, the accused escaped from the spot.
SP Rajouri, Mubassar Latiffi came to know about the incident and rushed police party to the spot. Both the victims were rushed to Rajouri hospital where Sadiq was declared dead. His body was sent for postmortem and later handed over to the family for last rites. Aslam survived with injuries and his condition was improving.
The police party started manhunt for the accused and he was nabbed from nearby jungle. His gun was also seized. A murder case has been registered against him.
