Daily wagers facing injustice, Govt unmoved: Parray

Srinagar, Mar 5: The Kashmir PHE Joint Employees Association, led by Sajad Parray, today emphasized the urgent need to address the prolonged issue of regularization concerning 61,000 daily wagers.
During a press conference held here, the Chairman of the Association highlighted the longstanding plight of these workers.
“Despite the formation of various commissions and committees by successive governments, the issue remains unresolved, with recommendations recognizing it as a significant human and social concern,” he said.
Parray said that promising steps had been announced by the Home Minister and the Lt. Governor, J&K, to make the daily wage earners permanent and to implement the Minimum Wages Act in their favour.
“A committee formed by the BJP unit Jammu and Kashmir provided firm recommendations and a roadmap to the government, yet the situation persists,” he said.
Despite the recent presentation of the fifth budget of Jammu and Kashmir in Parliament, he said, “daily wagers found no mention, adding to their disillusionment.”
As the Prime Minister prepares to address the people of Kashmir on Thursday, the Association noted “the disparity between grand project inaugurations and the unmet needs of 61,000 families awaiting justice.”
He stressed the urgency of this matter, mentioning the recent death of Parvez Ahmad Sheikh, a daily wager from Barzulla, Srinagar, who succumbed to a brain hemorrhage while performing his duty.
“This incident reflects the risks faced by hundreds of such workers who tirelessly serve the public and the Government.”
