JAMMU, Feb 18: A day after lathi charge on the agitating youth selected for the posts of Jail Warden, a deputation of affected candidates represented by Ashwani Kumar, Jaffar Javed Bhat, Lalita Manhas, Sunny Gupta and others, called on the BJP National Executive Member and State chief spokesperson, Dr Jitendra Singh here today and handed over a memorandum to him. After giving them a patient hearing, Dr Jitendra Singh assured them of full support and said, “This is a strange contradiction that on the one hand the Coalition Government claims of creating new jobs for the unemployed youth and on the other hand the candidates who have already been short listed for the posts of Jail Warden, are not being issued final selection orders for reasons best known to the Government.” Referring to the alarming rise in the rate of unemployment which has increased manifold during the present Government regime, Dr Singh said there are presently over seven lakh youth awaiting employment despite the much publicized new employment policy and fast recruitment plans. Expressing concern over undue delay in appointment of Jail Wardens, the senior BJP leader recalled that the advertisement for these posts was issued way back in 2005 and after five years, in 2010-11, it was intimated that 1247 out of 41,182 candidates had qualified the interview but till date, the final selection list has not been released. Demanding immediate release of final selection list of Jail Wardens, Dr Singh warned the Government against use of force against the agitating youth, which can further increase the frustration among them and lead them to undemocratic methods of protest.
