SRINAGAR, Mar 5: Chairman Peoples Democratic Front ( PDF) and former Minister Hakeem Muhammad Yaeen has urged for redoubled efforts to trace the bodies of three missing labourers on war footing who were washed away after old Gungal bridge in Uri area was washed away on Sunday adding that their families were passing uneasy moments in utter anxiety.
He has demanded immediate ex-gratia/relief and compensation to the affected families whose lives and property was damaged due to the recent weather vagaries.
In a statement issued today, Hakeem Yaseen has demanded compensation to those whose life and property was exclusively damaged in recent heavy rains, gusty winds and snow fall. He said there was an immediate need to reach out to the affected people and provide relief to them. The concerned authorities must send teams to affected areas to assess the losses so that the affected people are provided adequate relief.
Hakeem Yaseen has also sought immediate attention of the government towards dilapidated condition of National Highway-44, adding that frequent disruptions of this important lifeline for Kashmir’s economy poses significant challenges to the smooth flow of goods and services.
