JKTF holds protest dharna

JAMMU, Feb 18: In its first phase of agitations, Jammu Kashmir Teachers Forum, (JKTF) Jammu Forum held a one-day protest demonstration in the premises of Directorate of School Education, Jammu.
Teachers agitated today under the leadership of A Q Wani, chairman, Ganesh Khajuria, State general secretary against the rampant corruption prevailing in the Education Department and in support of the long pending genuine demands of the teachers community. They raised slogans against callous and anti-teachers approach of the Education authorities.
The speakers on the occasion warned the Government to desist from harassing the teaching fraternity by not framing the rational transfer policy and adopting the pick and choose policy in transfer of Teachers/Masters/ Lectures/Headmasters.
Various speakers highlighted the demands for an early redressal like serving in the district with repatriation, promotions, adjustment of newly promoted Headmasters, removal of pay anomaly in Master grade, framing of transfer policy, promotions of ReTs, DPC of class IV employees etc.
Other grievances voiced included sanction of senior teacher grade to under graduate teachers, grant of earned leave and other allied demands.
Prominent among those present on the occasion were Dr Manzoor Bhat, Rajinder Gupta, Satish Dutta, Kuldeep Singh, Ramprasad, Vinod Sharma and number of other.
