Drug peddler’s property attached

JAMMU, Mar 6: In a relentless effort to crack down on drug dealers, District Police Jammu, under the supervision of SSP Jammu, Dr Vinod Kumar, seized a property worth approximately Rs 50 lakhs at Rah Salyote, Tehsil Chowki Choura, District Jammu.
The property, a residential house, belonged to the notorious drug dealer Rohit Dutta of Rah Salyote.
This operation, conducted under sections 68-E read with 68-F of the NDPS Act of 1985, targets individuals involved in drug peddling, with provisions also applicable to those detained under the PIT NDPS Act.
Rohit Dutta is currently detained under the PIT NDPS Act by Akhnoor Police and is lodged in District Jail Kathua, following a warrant issued by Divisional Commissioner Jammu.
Numerous cases, including serious charges of drug peddling, are pending against Rohit Dutta.
The seized property, identified as proceeds of illicit drug trafficking, was uncovered during a thorough investigation conducted by a police team from Akhnoor Subdivision, in collaboration with revenue authorities.
This operation underscored the unwavering commitment of District Police Jammu to eradicate the drug menace from the region, earning praise from the local populace for its proactive stance towards ensuring a safer, drug-free environment.
The property attachment operation was led by SDPO Akhnoor, Mohan Sharma and SHO Akhnoor, Inspector Tariq Ahmed, along with Naib-Tehsildar Rah Salyote, Ashfaq Ahmed, under the supervision of SP Rural Brijesh Sharma.
