JAMMU : BJP and National Panthers Party legislators today staged a walk-out of the Legislative Assembly over refugees issue and against the State Information Department for not giving full coverage to the opposition parties.
Shouting slogans, the BJP MLAs led by Legislative Party leader Ashok Khajuria raised the issues of refugees and disrupted the House proceedings.
The members said the refugees are fighting for their rights since decades but the Government has not yet settled their issues, including citizenship rights to them. They created a ruckus and disrupted the Question Hour.
Meanwhile, JKNPP members led by MLA Harshdev Singh also protested in the House asserting that the State Information Department is not giving complete coverage to the opposition parties.
Mr Singh said the Information Department ignores the names of the legislators seeking replies from the Government on various issues, which is an utter discrimination with the members of the opposition.
Speaker Legislative Assembly Mubarak Gul directed the concerned department to look into the matter. The House, however, witnessed noisy scenes as the JKNPP members joined by the BJP legislators created uproar and later staged a walk-out of the House. (AGENCIES)
