JERUSALEM, Feb 19: Israeli police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld says suspected Israeli vandals have slashed car tires and sprayed graffiti in an Arab neighbourhood of east Jerusalem.
Rosenfeld says the vandals punctured the tires of 30 vehicles in Sharafat and scrawled anti-Arab messages. He said police were searching for suspects involved in the incident early today.
A fringe of extremist Jews have been carrying out acts of vandalism in recent years in the West Bank and east Jerusalem in retaliation for Palestinian attacks, and in protest of what they see as the Israeli Government’s pro-Palestinian policies.
Mosques, churches, dovish Israeli groups and even Israeli military bases have been targeted in these so-called “price tag” assaults. The attacks have been widely condemned in Israel across the political spectrum. (AGENCIES)
