After 7 yrs, kidnapping, rape victim gets justice

JAMMU, Mar 8: Principal District and Sessions Judge Kathua Ashok Kumar has decided seven years old case of kidnapping and rape thereby providing much-needed justice to the victim.
The FIR No.88/2016 for offence under Sections 363, 376, 3 and 323 RPC registered at Police Station Billawar was pending disposal since November 28, 2017 and the same has been decided by the Principal Sessions Judge Kathua by awarding punishment to the accused persons.
The accused Mohd Abbas, son of Jangem Shah while taking advantage of the minor age of the prosecutrix kidnapped her and committed rape upon her.
After hearing Public Prosecutor Surinder Kumar for the State and Advocate T N Gupta for the accused, the court convicted Mohd Abbas and awarded simple imprisonment of five years and fine of Rs 2000 for commission of offence under Section 363 RPC and for offence under Section 376 RPC 10 years imprisonment has been awarded. Moreover, for offence under Section 3 three months simple imprisonment has been awarded. Another accused Shahain Begum has been awarded simple imprisonment of three months and fine of Rs 500.
“The way the accused have taken the law into the hands doesn’t deserve any concession that too while committing offence against the weaker section of the society”, the court said, adding “adequate imprisonment has been awarded to send a message to the society that crime has no space and criminals have to face the music of law”.
