Peddler held with intoxicant substance

KISHTWAR, Mar 8: Police here today arrested a notorious peddler of narcotic substances and recovered 56 gm cannabis like substance from his possession.
Cops from Police Station Kishtwar while on a routine patrol duty at Umar Mohalla-Bhagwan Mohalla in Kishtwar observed suspicious movement of a pedestrian who on seeing cops tried to flee from the spot but cops held him.
On his search a white coloured polythene bag with cannabis (Charas) like substance weighing 56 gm was recovered and he was arrested.
During questioning the accused disclosed his name as Firdous Ahmed, son of Abdul Kabeer Butt, resident of Umar Mohalla, Kishtwar.
In this regard a case in FIR number 66/2024 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Kishtwar and investigation was started.
SSP Kishtwar, Abdul Qayoom has issued a stern warning to narcotic syndicates asking them to cease their activities else they will face legal repercussions. He also urged the general public of Kishtwar to share any information related to the sale of drugs with PCR Kishtwar at 9906154100 and the identity of informants shall be kept confidential and they will also be suitably rewarded.
