Bank Bachao, Desh Bachao Manch assails SBI for delay in electoral bonds

JAMMU, Mar 8: Bank Bachao, Desh Bachao Manch, a forum of civil society, which aims to spouse the cause of various stake holders of the banking system as well as mobilize public opinion against the plans of the Government to privatise banks strongly condemned the procrastination of State Bank of India to delay the disclosure of electoral bonds as was directed by the Supreme Court of India.
In a press statement, the Forum refused to accept the plea of State Bank of India that the bank was unable to collate the data related to purchasers and encashers of electoral bonds, spread across its branches. When the premier financial institution of the country , boasts of state of the art technology which is also the world leader in UPI (Unified Payments interface).
“Our Forum apprehends that SBI is deliberately trying to ensure that details of donors and the amounts contributed to political parties anonymously were not disclosed to the public before Lok Sabha elections. The Bank appealed to the Chief Justice of India not to accept the petition of SBI to delay the disclosure till June 30, 2024.
