IETE Students Day on Women Empowerment celebrated

JAMMU, Feb 19: Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) Jammu Centre celebrated IETE students Day at Govt Polytechnic for Women, here today.
The theme of the Students Day was Empowering Women through Science and Technology – a case study in Jammu and Kashmir State.   The function was followed by a Workshop on Embedded Technologies.
Joy Ganjoo, Chairman IETE Jammu Centre delivered the keynote address on the theme. He described that the technology is taking off in India for reaching people and changing lives in urban as well as rural areas.
Er Neetu Maini, Principal Govt. Polytechnic for Women, Jammu was the chief guest, who in her address emphasized that the theme of the students day was in line with the need of the hour.
Dr Pawanesh Abrol, Honorary Secretary, IETE Jammu Centre presented welcome address. He underlined the constant growth of IETE in our state and added the technical field of Embedded technology is vital for the development of the country.
The programme was followed by the workshop under the guidance of Dr Parveen Lehana.
Naresh Gupta, Rita Kundal and Kamal Kumar from the polytechnic contributed significantly in organizing the function. Harish Kumar, Pawan and Rajiv Kohli besides other members of teaching and non teaching staff of the polytechnic were also present.  Rajinder Gupta and Rajesh Gupta from Technical Directorate, J & K Govt along with a large number of students attended the programme.
Fellows and members of IETE including Maj Gen S K Sharma (retd), Fellow IETE, Dr. Suresh Rao MIETE and Jangbhadur were also present.
Vijay Sharma, presented the formal vote of thanks.
