AKHNOOR, Mar 9: Invoking the divine blessings of Lord Shiva for bringing peace and spiritual upliftment, Senior BJP leader Devender Singh Rana today highlighted the importance of salvation in attaining emancipation and called for inculcating the spirit of devotion to lead a successful and harmonious life.
“Once human beings know the self, they will love others and let them live with dignity and honour”, Rana said while addressing a congregation held as part of Bhagwat Saptah to mark the Maha Shivratri at the ancient Kameshwar Temple here.
Rana joined Maha Mandleshwar Mahant Rameshwar Dass ji Maharaj of Purani Mandi, Jammu, Dr Satya Narayanji in offering the Pujas and Mahant Gauri Shankarji of Hanuman Garhi Ayodha.
Besides a large number of devotees, spiritual and religious leaders and a large number of locals were present in the congregation.
Devender Singh Rana greeted the devotees on Mahashivratri and prayed for peace and universal brotherhood, the cherished ideals of Sanaatan Dharma. He said spirituality helps human beings to unshackle themselves from the myopic prism of self, greed and hatred. It leads humans to the path of love and righteousness, which is the essence of all religions. He called for further strengthening the bonds of brotherhood between various segments of society and promoting social justice.
The Mahant gave religious discourse on the occasion and dwelt upon the history of the Kameshwar Mandir in Akhnoor.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Satya Narayan reflected on the teachings of Lord Shiva-of compassion, strength and transcendence.
During the event, Bhajans and Kirtans were performed by the devotees from far and wide, who also offered prayers, performed rituals and sought blessings from the divine.
