JAMMU, Mar 11: In a significant ruling, Justice Sanjay Dhar of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court declared that candidates have no right to contest the withdrawal of advertisement notifications or the re-advertisement of posts.
The judgment came in response to a petition filed by Altaf Hussain and Roshan Lal, who challenged the cancellation of advertisement notification number Ed-715/GNR dated February 10, 2016, regarding the recruitment of Grameen Dak Sewaks.
The court emphasized that since the petitioners were not selected and their certificates were still under verification when the selection process was abandoned, they had not acquired any vested right to the positions.
The decision to switch to online selection mode was deemed legitimate by the court, with no illegality found in the respondents’ actions.
Consequently, the High Court dismissed the petition for lacking merit.
