JAMMU, Mar 11: Hasrat Gadda’s new book Akkanandun in Kashmiri hits stands today. The book was released at a simple but impressive function organized by Academy of Art Cultural and Languages J&K in collaboration with Fankar Cultural Organisation Kashmir and Naagrad Adbi Sangam at Writer’s Club K L Sehgal Hall here today.
The function was presided over by Khalid Hussain an eminent Punjabi writer and Sahitya Akademy awardee who was the chief guest on the occasion while Suhail Qazmi senior journalist and Avtar Bhat journalist were the guests of honour. Bharat Singh Manhas, Secretary JKAACL and Pupinder Singh Paras , Editor Punjabi JKSSCL also graced the occasion. Hasrat Gadda a veteran writer has compiled the Akanandun of 11 Kashmiri writers in a single book form with his commentary on every writer. The book has been published by Fankar Cultural Organization Kashmir.
The function was attended by a galaxy of writers, artists, poets and people of literary taste. In his welcome address Bharat Singh Manhas, Secretary JK AACL said that Academy is regularly organizing literary and interactive events in Jammu as well as Kashmir regions. The interaction between writers and public has proved beneficial for both of them, he added.
Prof Rattan Talashi presented an impressive paper on the book and highlighted its qualitative content. He threw light on the literary contribution of Hasrat Gadda.
Hasrat Gadda gave account of his literary journey and research work on eminent poets, literary figures of Kashmir by highlighting their contribution to culture and literature. He sought cooperation of literary figures in compiling his other books which are in pipeline.
In his address Khalid Hussian, while appreciating the contribution of writer in the field of literature and art said despite the turmoil hitting Kashmir Gadda remained in close contact with members of minority community outside Valley. He urged the Kashmiri intellectuals to work for preservation of Sharda script because all important manuscripts in Kashmir all published in this script.
Suhail Qazmi while highlighting the contribution of Gadda said he has done a lot of service in preserving the old manuscripts and highlighting the contributions of veteran poets and writers of Kashmir. The proceedings were conducted by Avtar Hugami while vote of thanks was proposed by Avtar Krishan Naaz president Nagraad.
