JAMMU, June 26: After remaining suspended for two consecutive weeks, cross-LoC bus service on Poonch-Rawlakote route was expected to resume next Monday (July 2) and trade on July 3, indications pouring in from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) to the administration and traders in Poonch revealed.
The bus didn’t operate between two parts of divided State for two weeks while cross-LoC trade remained suspended for nearly three weeks after Pakistan authorities had refused to open gates at Chakan-Da-Bagh following heavy exchange of firing between Indo-Pak troops at Krishna Ghati sector in Poonch district.
Official sources said Pakistan authorities have conveyed to the trade authorities in Poonch from Hajeera that cross-LoC bus would resume on July 2 and trade on July 3.
Cross-LoC Traders Association, president, Pawan Anand also received a call from his PoK counterpart Akhter Hussain Shah this evening. Mr Anand said Shah has informed him that the traders across LoC have been sounded for resumption of trade next Tuesday.
Cross-LoC bus plies every Monday while trade takes place between two parts of divided State from Tuesday to Friday.
Both bus service and trade had been suspended as Pakistan authorities had refused to open gates at Chakan-Da-Bagh after firing in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district.
A Brigade Commander level flag meeting was held between the two sides last week at Chakan-Da-Bagh in which both sides had committed themselves to ceasefire.
