Premier League Title Race Building Up To Be A True Classic

The 2023/24 Premier League season is edging closer towards a conclusion and excitement is growing on a title race with so many sub-plots that it could go down as a classic.

With Arsenal, Liverpool and reigning champions Manchester City all in the mix, the eyes of football fans in India and across the world will keep an eye on the battle to secure the English crown this season.

City’s Greatness Being Tested

After winning an impressive treble of the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League last season, Manchester City are being pushed hard for domestic success this term. City, who are 11/10 with a bet on football to win the Premier League title this season, were in excellent form in the first couple of months of the year. With 11 games in all competitions through a busy January and February, the Cityzens went unbeaten with 10 wins and a draw over the course of those two months. City’s form carried into early March with a 3-1 win over rivals Manchester United, followed in the Premier League by a hard-fought draw with fellow title challengers Liverpool.

Jürgen Klopp has already confirmed he will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season and that 1-1 draw might be the last time the German and his City counterpart Pep Guardiola go head-to-head in the dugout. Rated as two of the best coaches of their generation, the pair have produced some great battles with their sides over the years in both the German Bundesliga and in the English top flight. Their stalemate at Anfield on March 10th just showed how little there is to choose between these sides, while the dropped points for both teams help out the third runner in this three-horse race.

Arsenal Eyeing Redemption

After squandering an eight-point lead to miss out on the Premier League title last season, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are seeking redemption this year. It was a cruel end to the campaign for the Gunners last term, as a long-awaited title slipped through their fingers with dropped points at the end of the campaign. However, after some strong recruitment over the summer including the arrival of England midfielder Declan Rice, the Gunners find themselves back in the mix for the Premier League crown.

All eyes will be on what lessons Arteta and his side will have learnt from the heartbreak of last season’s conclusion. The Gunners slipped up in winnable games last term but the early signs in 2024 is that they are throwing everything into games against so-called lesser opposition. February saw the Gunners play four Premier League games and they won all of them, while scoring 20 goals and conceding just three. All eyes will be on how the Gunners go as the pressure mounts up in the final few weeks.

With City battling for an unprecedented fourth-consecutive Premier League title, Klopp leaving Liverpool and Arsenal seeking redemption, it’s little wonder why the battle for the English crown is attracting interest from across the sporting world.
