High level committee to select Director SKIMS

Srinagar, Mar 13: To select the suitable candidate for the post of Director at SKIMS, the Government has formed a high-level Selection Committee led by the Chief Secretary.
The committee has been tasked with preparing a list of three candidates in order of merit from all applicants for the position.  According to the order issued, the committee will select three names based on the established criteria for the position.
Atal Dulloo, the Chief Secretary of J&K, will serve as the committee’s Chairman. The other members include M. Srinivas, Director of AIIMS New Delhi; Prof. Dr. Vivek Lal, Director of PGIMER Chandigarh; and Dr. Achal Kumar Srivastava, Professor in the Department of Neurology at AIIMS New Delhi. Syed Abid Rasheed, Secretary of the Health and Medical Education Department, will serve as the committee’s member secretary.
As per the norms, the Screening Committee, which has already been formed, reviews the candidates’ applications, biodata, and other records.
It evaluates each case based on academic qualifications, teaching experience, research experience, practical skills, and administrative experience.
Subsequently, the High-Level Selection Committee may conduct personal interviews with the candidates for further assessment.
Following this, the committee compiles a list of three candidates in order of merit, which will then be presented to the Governing Body for the selection of the SKIMS Director.
Dr. Parvaiz Koul, the former Director, retired on March 8th. Following his retirement, Abid Rasheed, Secretary of the Health and Medical Education Department, assumed additional responsibility as the Director of SKIMS.
