It is simple chemistry. How can huge chunk of Government land to the tune of 2810 kanals or 351.25 acres belonging to the JDA be encroached upon and grabbed by land grabbers unless they have solid support that gives them cover up for the loot? This is prime land and the looters seem to be prime personalities with strong political clout. This is not what we are alleging but what the Minister for Urban Development has said on the floor of the house. The lands allotted to the JDA are essentially for housing purposes. Jammu is among one of the State capitals in India where housing development activity is almost nil. No housing colonies are either proposed or planned. While the population of Jammu city is rapidly growing and the Government has to devise proper town planning for the benefit of denizens. This is an awful situation and the city is gradually witnessing an unplanned growth in all directions.
We exhort the Government to come down with a heavy hand against the land grabbers and release the JDA land from illegal occupation and make it available for raising residential colonies.
