While democracy thrives on the principles of checks and balances, the primary focus of our opposition parties seems to be unseating the incumbent government. The need for a comprehensive and workable alternative with tangible policies should be a priority. The constant harping on high prices and unemployment, while ignoring critical issues like terrorism, communalism, a common civil code, and population control, is concerning.
Furthermore, the populist approach of appeasement and freebies, regardless of its detrimental long-term impact on our economic and social equilibrium, seems to be the norm. It is imperative for political parties to prioritize the interests of the nation over short-term gains.
In these challenging times, we must encourage constructive and responsible opposition politics that aim to serve the country’s best interests, rather than merely winning votes.
