12 charge sheeted in arms, narcotics case

RAMBAN, Mar 14: Ramban Police has filed charge sheet against 12 persons including an absconder in a case related to recovery of 35 Kg 990 gram Diacetylmorphine (heroin).
There was recovery of cash amounting to over Rs 5 crore and subsequently recovery of mobile phones, fake R/Cs/D/Ls, fake Number plates of vehicles, cash counting machine, arms/ explosive and other incriminating material.
The case pertained to initial recovery of 31 kg 314 grams of Diacetylmorphine (heroin/chitta) from two accused persons who were travelling in Innova car bearing registration No HR12CW-4925 and were intercepted by Police Party of P/S Banihal on 30-09-2023. Accordingly, a case was registered at P/S Banihal and investigation set into motion. Ramban Police, working on backward linkages arrested five more accused persons from Kashmir.
On their disclosure/pointing out, cash amounting to Rs 43 lakh and drug heroin total weighing 4 kg 198 grams were recovered along with some explosive substance.
Police conducted simultaneously searches in Punjab and Uttarakhand area and recovered 478 grams contraband drug heroin, cash amounting to Rs. (4,94,50000) eight mobile phones, fake R/Cs, fake Number plates of vehicles, cash counting machine, fake D/Ls, Aadhar cards and some incriminating material. Arms were also recovered.
“Accused persons with criminal intention to revive militancy in Jammu and Kashmir from illicit sale/ purchase of narcotic drugs (heroin), provided/obtained narcotic drugs (Heroin). In furtherance of this they obtained (35) packets of heroin, sold /purchased the same to revive militancy in Jammu and Kashmir,” the charge-sheet revealed.
Further investigation of the case is under progress.
