MOSOCW, Mar 15: A voting to elect the next President of Russia started on Friday and will last three days until March 17.
The candidates for the next six-year presidential term registered by the Russian Central Election Commission are vying for the post of head of state, including incumbent Russian President Vladimir Putin, the head of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, Leonid Slutsky, Vladislav Davankov from the New People center-right party and Nikolay Kharitonov from the Russian Communist Party.
The presidential candidates’ mass media campaigns that started on February 17, finished on March 14.
The 2024 presidential election is the first to introduce a multi-day voting in Russia. The Russian Central Election Commission has received over 33 billion rubles (more than $360 million) to arrange the preparations and holding of the presidential election.
A remote online voting system is available for some 38 million Russian voters, the Central Election Commission said. (UNI)
