DHARAMSHALA, Mar 15: Centre for Kashmir Studies, Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CU HP), organised an impressive two-day national seminar on the topic–Gilgit-Baltistan: Excavating Roots, Exploring Routes’, which began at the University Campus, here today.
Vice Chancellor of Central University of Himachal Pradesh, Prof SP Bansal delivered inaugural speech through online Google meet, threw light on the topic and said legally the region is an integral part of India and history of Gilgit-Baltistan goes back to 2000 BC, however, since then, it has gone through boundless changes in terms of its political regimes, legal boundaries, administrative structures, economic aspects, and social and cultural milieus.
Earlier, Prof Abha Chauhan, Director of the Centre for Kashmir Studies, Central University of Himachal Pradesh presented a welcome address and spoke on the significance of the seminar and the importance of Sharda script in the present era, while Prof Ashutosh Bhatnagar gave a detailed description on the topic and threw light on the ways to achieve our goals.
Sant Ji Thusoo, on behalf of the in charge Shardalipi Section, Sanjeevani Sharda Kendra Bohri, Jammu, Sanjay Pandita spoke on the occasion and complimented those who have been instrumental in promoting Sharda script in every nook and corner of the country.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr Ajay Kumar , while the vote of thanks was presented by Prof Milkeet Singh .
The speakers lavished praise on the Sanjeevani Sharda Kendra, Bohri, Jammu for playing a pivotal role in promoting Sharda script.
It is pertinent to mention here that Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between SSK Jammu and CU HP on January 23, 2021 for the revival of Sharda script which is the original script of Kashmiri language since so many centuries.
On the occasion, Prof Suman Sharma, Registar of Central University HP honoured a good number of candidates for completing one-year Certificate Course in Sharda script by presenting them certificates as a token of appreciation and gratitude from the University.
Those who were honoured included Ritu Koul, Renu Pandita, Sant Ji Thusoo, Bhushan Chauhan, Aahee Sapru, Veena Lidhu, Satish Bhat, Dr Shivesh Raina, Promila Ji, Aneeta Bhat, Jagriti Bhat, Ashok Wanchoo, Sushma Premi Trakroo, Satesh Pandita, Shiban Kr Kandroo, Bansi Lal Naru and Bal Ji Naru.
A Magazine/Newsletter ‘Satisar’ compiled by the University, was also released on the occasion.
