UDHAMPUR, Mar 17: The 16th death anniversary of Lala Shiv Charan Gupta, former BJP MLA, was solemnly observed at Nand Palace, Udhampur, today.
Organised by the Lala Shiv Charan Gupta Yaadgaar Samiti and hosted by Pawan Kumar Gupta, ex MoS Finance and IT, and Dr Jogeshwar Gupta, former President of the Municipal Council Udhampur, the event was attended by prominent senior leaders of the BJP, including State General Secretary Ashok Koul, ex-MLA Devender Singh Rana, ex-Minister Rajiv Jasrotia, ex-MLAs RS Pathania and Baldev Raj Sharma, as well as Senior BJP leader Satish Sharma and Padma Shri Prof Shiv Nirmohi.
During the event, speakers paid tribute to Lala Shiv Charan Gupta’s invaluable contributions to Udhampur, recalling his role as a founding member of the Praja Parishad Party.
Despite facing challenges, including imprisonment and threats during the Praja Parishad agitation, they said, Gupta’s determination led to his multiple election victories as MLA.
Meanwhile, prominent BJP leaders, including Pawan Gupta, Ashok Koul, Devender Singh Rana, Rajiv Jasrotia, and Baldev Raj Sharma, urged voters to support the BJP in the forthcoming General Elections, praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s developmental initiatives.
Reflecting on Lala Shiv Charan Gupta’s legacy, Pawan Gupta fondly remembered his father’s dedication and extensive work in social and political spheres.
The speakers highlighted Gupta’s vision, tireless dedication, and service to the people of Jammu and Udhampur, inspiring future generations.
