KATRA, Mar 19: A six-day online Faculty Development Programme on “Research Methodology with a Focus on Hands-on Experience of Econometric Modelling” commenced at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra.
Organized by Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC), the FDP was inaugurated by Professor Supran Kumar Sharma, Director MMTTC in the presence of Dr Pabitra Kumar Jena, Coordinator of the FDP; Dr Arif Billah Dar and Dr R Gopinathan, co-Coordinator of the FDP.
The primary objective of this workshop is to cover essential econometric models and methods for research application, particularly within the realm of empirical research. This meticulously crafted workshop serves as an initiative to familiarize participants with the analytical framework of econometrics, a branch of economics concerned with estimating and evaluating theoretical knowledge through econometric models.
The workshop boasts diverse participation from various faculties, including teachers from different Colleges, Universities, and Institutions. There were four sessions, with each session of 90 minutes.
Dr Bandi Kamaiah, Emeritus Professor from the School of Economics, University of Hyderabad and ex TIES President, was the speaker for the first session. He highlighted the importance and art of modelling in the realm of Econometrics.
Additionally, Dr. Bright Akwasi Gyamfi, Associate Professor, Sir Padampat Singhania University (SPSU), shared his invaluable experience.
In the afternoon session, Dr Supran Kumar Sharma delivered a lecture on the basics of Econometrics and Assumptions of the Ordinary Least Squares and Linear Stochastic regression model.
In the last session of the day, Dr Pabitra Kumar Jena delivered a lecture on empirical estimations of time series modelling and briefly summarized the anonymity of classical econometric modelling.
