JAMMU, Feb 22: Minister for Revenue, Aijaz Khan today said that Nazool land measuring 178 kanals and eight marlas was under unauthorized occupation of 495 individuals in the vicinity of Jammu city.
In a written reply to the question of BJP MLA, Bharat Bhushan, the Minister said, “the land is under occupation prior to the commencement of the Jammu and Kashmir State Lands (vesting of the ownership to the occupants) Amendment Act, 2004”, adding “the land has been occupied by such occupants on their own and so far involvement of any individual officer/official has not been reported”.
“However, if any officer/official is found involved, necessary action will be taken against the delinquent, if any, under law”, he said, adding “majority of the occupants have applied under Roshni Scheme and the cases are under verification/re-verification of the concerned field functionaries”.
