Cops rescue 35 bovines, arrests 3 smugglers

RAMBAN, Mar 22: Police here today arrested three bovine smugglers, rescued 35 bovines and seized the vehicle involved in the crime.
Under the supervision of SSP Ramban, Anuj Kumar, a team of cops from Police Station Ramban headed by SHO Ramban while performing vehicle checking duty at National Highway Naka, intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02BQ-9787, while it was on way to Kashmir, for checking and the driver managed to escape from the spot.
During checking Police found 23 bovines loaded in the vehicle in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally.
Meanwhile, a Police Party of Police Station Batote foiled a bovine smuggling bid at Nashri Naka and held Nazir Hussain, son of Mohd. Hussain, resident of Kheri, Jakhani, Udhampur who was taking 8 bovines illegally to Kashmir on foot.
Also a Police Party of Police Station Gool foiled a bovine smuggling attempt and arrested two smugglers Reyaz Ahmed, son of Qasim Din and Zakir Hussain, son of Keema, both residents of Dalwa, Tehsil Gool, District Ramban and they were taking four bovines towards Kashmir illegally.
Subsequently, FIR No. 55/2024 was registered at Police Station Ramban, FIR No. 39/2024 at Police Station Batote and FIR No. 26/2024 at Police Station Gool under Sections 188 IPC and under Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and investigation in these cases was started.
