Govt constitutes J&K Biodiversity Council

JAMMU, Mar 23: Government today accorded sanction to the constitution of Jammu and Kashmir Biodiversity Council.
According to the order, the Biodiversity Council will consist of 5 ex-officio members and 5 non-official members with Principal Chief Conservator of Forests J&K as its chairman.
The ex-officio members of the Council will be Director of Forest Research Institute J&K (member secretary) and Chief Wildlife Warden J&K (member), besides one representative each from Departments of Forest, Rural Development and Agricultural Production (not below the rank of Additional Secretary).
Dr CM Seth (Retired IFS), Om Prakash Sharma (Retired IFS), Prof Sajad Ahmad Gangoo (Dean, Faculty of Forestry, SKUAST Kashmir), Dr Anzar Ahmad Khuroo (Department of Botany, University of Kashmir) and Prof Yash Pal Sharma (Department of Botany, University of Jammu) will be non-official members of the Biodiversity Council.
The term of office of the non-official members of the Biodiversity Council shall be for a period of three years from the date of issuance of the order.
