GCPF condemns recent reservation provisions in J&K

JAMMU, Mar 23: General Category People’s Front (GCPF-JK) in its core committee meeting held today under the chairmanship of Raj Kumar Banathia (chairman of the Front) strongly condemned recently issued reservations provisions by Jammu and Kashmir Administration.
Addressing the meeting, Prof Yash Paul Sanson (president of the Front) alleged that J&K Government ignored general category people and violated constitutional provisions by modifying and misusing to play divisive vote bank politics and to secure votes dividing society on the basis of caste, class, religion and region.
“The modified reservation rules humiliated and humbled General Category as they continued to be robbed of their due share in every sphere,” Sanson said and demanded that provision of reservation be made for Brahmans, Mahajans, Rajput and Jatts also.
Som Nath Sharma (general secretary) demanded setting up of Reservation Review Commission constituted of eminent jurists to review the existing provisions of reservations which promoted casteism, communalism and administrative efficiency.
Jagdish Dogra (ex-president, Shri Sanatan Dharam Sabha-Jammu province also spoke on the occasion. The meeting was also attended by Bhushan Pargal, VK Sharma, Deepak Khajuria, Surinder Kumar, Kewal Sharma, Gopal Dass Verma and Dr Bansi Lal Ram Pal Sethi was special guest.
