LEH, Mar 24: Dr. Romesh Khajuria, Chairman of Wool & Woollens Export Promotion Council (WWEPC), emphasized the pivotal role of product innovation in the marketing of Leh Pashmina. Dr. Khajuria made these remarks while addressing artisans, weavers, and entrepreneurs from the Ladakh region during the inaugural function of the Ladakh Pashmina International Conclave held in Leh. The conclave, organized jointly by Handloom Export Promotion Council (HEPC) and the UT administration of Ladakh, served as a buyer-seller meet.
Dr. Romesh Khajuria, who also serves as Chairman of Carpet Export Promotion Council (CEPC), highlighted the significant potential of Ladakh Pashmina products in the Global market. He stressed the need to develop a new range of products meeting international standards, asserting that this could be a game-changer for the economy of Pashmina growers in the Ladakh region.
Further, Dr. Khajuria underscored WWEPC’s role in promoting the export of woollen products, including Pashmina, to international markets. He emphasized WWEPC’s commitment to facilitating the growth and expansion of the woollen industry, thereby contributing to the economic development of the region.
The Ladakh Pashmina International Conclave attracted over 20 overseas buyers, approximately 40 national domestic volume buyers, and more than 30 artisans, weavers, and entrepreneurs who showcased their products in the buyer-seller meet.
