Three bovine smugglers held, 25 bovines rescued

RAMBAN, Mar 27: Police here today under the supervision of SSP Ramban, Anuj Kumar foiled a bovine smuggling bid and arrested three bovine smugglers and rescued 25 bovines besides seizing three vehicles involved in the crime.
A team of cops from Police Station Batote headed by SHO Batote while on vehicle checking duty at NHW Naka Nashri intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK14F-4130 and during checking of the vehicle nine bovines were found laden inside in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally.
Over this one Mohd Sadeeq, son of Mohd Rafeeq, resident of Ancha, Tehsil Chenani, Udhampur was arrested from the vehicle.
Meanwhile, a Police Party of Police Station Chanderkote headed by SHO Chanderkote foiled two bovine smuggling bids after intercepting two vehicles bearing registration nos. JK20A-2822 and JK21A-8257 and during the checking of these vehicles cops found 16 bovines laden inside the vehicles in cruel manner and were being transported illegally.
From these vehicles Police arrested two persons Mohd Ashraf, son of Mohd Yousif, resident of Nagani, Tehsil Devsar, Kulgam and Ishfaq Ahmed, son of Abdual Khaliq, resident of Keshwan, Kukernag, Anantnag.
After this FIR No. 40/2024 was registered at Police Station Batote and FIR No. 40/2024 and 41/2024 at Police Station Chanderkote under Sections 188 IPC and under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and these vehicles were seized.
The investigation was initiated into these cases.
